Mardi Gras Parade

Float Load

February 21, 2023

Float load is from 9:00am to 11:00am behind Live Bait in Orange Beach (back building).

Floats will leave Live Bait at 12:30pm for the line up. If you want to ride the float to the line up you will need to be there by that time.

if you miss the floats at Live Bait, you will need to get yourself to the float line up before the roads close at 1:00pm.

You cannot load your beads at that time. You must load between 9:00am and 11:00am. Have someone do it for you if you cannot make that time.

If your beads are unloaded to the float with cardboard boxes, you will need to remove the cardboard and take it back home with you. Do NOT use their dumpster.

Parade Rules

1. No high heels on the float! You may bring them with your for the After Party. Our insurance requires we wear flats. Silver or sequin flat tennis shoes are preferred.

2. While it goes without saying...just saying...no nudity on the float! This is a family friendly event.

3. No smoking or smoking paraphernalia allowed on the float. If you are caught smoking on the float the penalty is expulsion.

4. No boxes allowed in the float area. You must remove all cardboard after the float load. Plush or non-bead type throws will be contained in plastic trash bags. All beads will be placed on bead holders or stored in plastic bags.

5. Plan to throw everything! There is no time to take things off the float with you except what you can carry as you exit the float. Exit is fast and furious.

6. If you run out of throws for any reason, sit down, or help your neighbor.

7. No large coolers are allowed on the float. Small personal size coolers are permitted if they fit in your personal space on your float.

8. No bean bags may be thrown on floats.

9. No glass bottles or any type of glass containers allowed on floats. All beverages should be concealed/poured into in a personal container (i.e. water bottle, Aurora cup, etc.)

10. Each person is responsible for cleaning up their personal area and disposing of any trash after the float load.

11. Once the float is in transit to the parade, no other persons other than Aurora or emergency personnel will be allowed on the floats before, during, or after the parade. No family members!

12. No one is permitted to leave the float for any reason once the floats are in parade position. Doing so will result in expulsion unless it is a true emergency.

13. If an Aurora is asked by a police officer or float captain to get off the float because of over intoxication or inappropriate behavior, they must comply.

14. No plastic or rubber dolls or animals with sexual organs will be used as throws.

15. No pregnant ladies will be allowed on floats.

16. Each member is responsible to clean up their own float space prior to exiting. This means EVERYTHING. Use one of your empty trash bags and tie up the bag and leave it on the float.

Parade Costumes

All members should have received their completed parade costume which includes:
- long sleeve Aurora blue shirt
- black jacket
- mask

Members are asked to wear black bottoms/leggings and a pair of tennis shoes (preferably silver). Our group will be different than any other, and we want to keep the Aurora style in all that we do!

Special thanks to Carol Snow for modeling our new blue shirts.

MASK TIP
Take a pair of cheap sunglasses (from the Dollar Tree or a similar store), pop out the lenses, and glue them to the back of your mask. This will make them easy to remove and you won't be messing with the ribbons!

Parade After Party

The After Parade Party will be held on March 1st at Live Bait's back building following the parade at 4:00pm. Bring your dancing shoes because Unfortunate Sons will be entertaining us!

This is not a closed event; your friends are invited. Live Bait is a great spot for family and friends to celebrate Fat Tuesday.
